Tax Chicken Kicks Off Tour of Katko’s District Offices

GIANT TAX CHICKEN KICKS OFF TOUR OF CONGRESSMAN KATKO’S DISTRICT OFFICES TO HIGHLIGHT DEVASTATING IMPACT OF TRUMPTAX FOR CENTRAL NEW YORKERS

Congressman Katko Is Too Chicken To Admit His Vote For The Republican Tax Scam Lined Donors’ Pockets, But Robbed His Constituents

OSWEGO — Stopping first in Oswego, the Tax Chicken officially launched its tour of Congressman John Katko’s district offices this morning, accompanied by Central New Yorkers who highlighted how Katko’s vote in favor of the TrumpTax will devastate New Yorkers while funneling billions to wealthy corporations and rich campaign donors.

It’s time for Congressman Katko to stop being too chicken to admit who he really works for – his corporate donors, who are making out like bandits with billions in tax breaks funded by cuts to our healthcare and public services,” said Jordan Harcleroad of the SUNY Oswego Young Democrats. “Katko certainly wasn’t thinking of us when he voted in December to hike our taxes $2.4 billion next year, for a bill that overwhelmingly gives its biggest benefits to the richest fraction of Americans.”

The tour will send the inflatable chicken – made famous by its nationwide tour in conjunction with the Tax March – to each of Katko’s district offices in the coming weeks, where Speak Out Central New York and its allies will emphasize just how bad the Republican tax scam will be for Katko’s constituents. At each stop, the Tax Chicken will be joined by Congressman Katko himself – albeit in cardboard form.

Katko continues to claim that the TrumpTax is raising worker raises, but that’s a lie – wealthy corporations are spending 39 times as much buying back stock to reward executives and investors as they are on worker raises and bonuses. The bill also sends more than half of its benefits to the richest 5 percent of New Yorkers, and the richest 1 percent will get an average tax break of more than half the median income district-wide.

The Tax Chicken Tour will be making stops at Katko’s offices in the following locations:

  • Oswego – 13 W. Oneida St.
  • Syracuse – 440 South Warren St.
  • Auburn – 71 Genesee St.
  • Lyons – 7376 State Route 31
