Statement on Speaker Ryan’s Decision to Not Seek Re-Election

SPEAK OUT CENTRAL NEW YORK STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO SPEAKER PAUL RYAN’S DECISION NOT TO SEEK RE-ELECTION

SYRACUSE — Speak Out Central New York released the following statement today in response to Speaker Paul Ryan’s announcement that he will not seek re-election in November:

“Speaker Paul Ryan’s announcement today that he will step down at the end of his current term is proof that the defining votes of his speakership – including passage of the Trump Tax and the repeal of health care – were unmitigated disasters not only for his members but all Americans. Ryan would rather retire than face the voters he sold out in order to repay his rich donors with tax breaks. Unfortunately for Congresswoman Claudia Tenney and Congressman John Katko, they will have to face voters this November and explain why they keep voting against the best interests of Central New Yorkers.”
