Katko & Tenney Hold $30k Per Plate Fundraiser With VP Pence As Republican Health Care Sabotage Threatens Thousands In CNY

KATKO AND TENNEY HOLD $30K PER PLATE FUNDRAISER WITH V.P. PENCE, AS REPUBLICAN HEALTH CARE SABOTAGE THREATENS THOUSANDS IN CENTRAL NEW YORK

Katko And Tenney Prove They Put Politics Before Their Constituents’ Needs With Private Washington, D.C. Fundraiser

SYRACUSE — Speak Out Central New York today released the following statement in response to the news that Vice President Mike Pence is holding a private fundraiser for Congressmembers Claudia Tenney and John Katko at a Trump hotel in Washington, D.C., even as ongoing Republican sabotage threatens access to health care for thousands of their own constituents:

“As usual, John Katko and Claudia Tenney are putting their political ambitions ahead of the needs of their districts, cozying up to rich corporate donors and the Trump administration. But while Tenney and Katko are busy selling seats at their $30,000 per plate private Washington, D.C. dinner, almost 600,000 of their own constituents are left waiting to see if the latest round of Republican health care sabotage will cost them their health insurance coverage.

“Almost exactly six months ago, John Katko and Claudia Tenney voted to repay their donors with big tax breaks as part of a $1.5 trillion tax scam that raises New Yorkers’ taxes by $2.4 billion next year and funnels more than 80 percent of its tax breaks to the richest one percent of the country. They’ve both taken thousands from wealthy corporations and Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs, Koch Industries and JPMorgan Chase. Their constant votes in favor of the Trump administration’s policies simply prove that their loyalty lies with their party, and not with their constituents.

“While thousands of Central New Yorkers face higher taxes and double-digit premium hikes because of the TrumpTax, Tenney and Katko are busy fundraising from the very wealthy – the ones who benefit most from the tax bill they both helped pass. We deserve representatives who vote to protect our economic opportunity and health care, and who won’t take them away just to pay for billions in tax breaks for their campaign donors.”
